Overview
Magnolia Yoga & Wellness Center is committed to providing mind body experiences through the traditional practice of yoga. We offer a variety of Eastern based, trauma informed classes designed to calm the mind, aid students in slowing down, and create a culture that is empowering, encouraging, and accepting of all.
Yoga classes at Magnolia Yoga & Wellness Center are centered in cultivating mental and emotional wellbeing in addition to the physical practice of yoga. As a Yoga Teacher, you'll guide group classes that reflect your personal approach, while supporting the mission of Magnolia Yoga & Wellness Center. Yoga Teachers at Magnolia are knowledgeable, friendly, warm and welcoming, and cultivate a sense of community within the center. Yoga Teachers are expected to arrive 20 minutes prior to their scheduled class to welcome clients, and stay 15 minutes after the class to follow up with clients and for basic tidying of the space.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design and teach consistent weekly yoga and/or meditation classes that align with class descriptions, as mutually agreed upon by the Yoga Studio Manager and Instructor.
- Arrive at least 20 minutes prior to the start of scheduled classes to welcome clients to the studio and set up the space for class.
- Basic studio set-up, including adjusting lighting and syncing personal device to the sound system for music.
- Welcome students into the space, making them feel part of the community at Magnolia.
- Stay after class 15-20 minutes or until all clients have left the studio, performing basic cleaning tasks such as organizing props and sweeping the floor.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues.
- Be willing to substitute teach classes when necessary due to fellow instructor illness or emergency.
- Optional: Develop and teach workshops in specialized topics, such as sound healing, yoga philosophy, meditation, etc.
Customer Service:
- Develop and manage relationships with customer base, including serving students in-studio and relaying customer needs to the Yoga Studio Manager when necessary.
- Provide exceptional customer service and create an environment of open communication.
- Act as an ambassador for the studio in the community, promoting the benefits and understanding of yoga.
- Promote your own classes in the community.
Requirements
- Minimum 200-hour Yoga Alliance Certification.
- Ability work independently and collaborate with Yoga Studio Manager
- Willingness to use apps for studio teacher communications, such as Slack or Whatsapp.
- Strong communication skills
Physical Requirements
- Ability to demonstrate postures and sequences appropriately
- Ability to facilitate engaging and thoughtful yoga and/or meditation classes
- Physically able to lift and carry 1-20lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ years teaching experience
- Specialized training, such as yoga philosophy, meditation, trauma informed yoga, children's yoga, yin yoga, yoga nidra, sound healing, etc.
