We are currently looking for a Yoga Instructor with senior living experience to teach chair and mat yoga on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.
Who you are:
- High School education or equivalent preferred. Other applicable education, training, and experience will be considered.
- Current CPR/AED and First Aid Certification ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
- Yoga teacher certification required. 200+hours
- Experience teaching yoga/chair preferred.
- Experience teaching older adults required.
- Proven ability to conduct classes through demonstrated poses, clear instruction, and appropriate adjustments.
- Basic knowledge of human anatomy/physiology to ensure safety and well-being of class participants.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
General Summary:
The Yoga/Chair instructor is a contracted employee on the Community Life Services team, serving Senior Adult Residents. This position is supervised by the Fitness Manager and will design and lead yoga/chair yoga classes.
Essential Job Duties:
- Design and lead Yoga/Chair Yoga classes for all levels.
- Set a positive tone and appropriate level of energy for class type.
- Provide safe, effective, and inspiring instruction in yoga/chair yoga through well-prepared classes.
- Provide adjustments and modifications in a safe and professional way to accommodate all levels.
- Ability to communicate effectively and understand instructions in English.
- Reliability to teach scheduled classes, beginning and ending on time.
- Keep up to date with the latest industry trends and participate in continuing education programs to enhance expertise and maintain yoga certification.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
- Sit or stand for extended lengths of time.
- Crouch, push, pull, reach, and kneel as necessary.
- Lift up to 50lbs safely.
- Maintain balance necessary to prevent falling of self and resident.
- Perform repetitive movements.
- Projects voice in a classroom setting.
