Position Title:   Yoga Instructor/Senior Living

Department: CLS/Fitness

Schedule:   Tues/Thur 9am-11am

Pay:    Contract $50/per class

We are currently looking for a Yoga Instructor with senior living experience to teach chair and mat yoga on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.

Who you are:

  • High School education or equivalent preferred.  Other applicable education, training, and experience will be considered.
  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid Certification ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
  • Yoga teacher certification required. 200+hours
  • Experience teaching yoga/chair preferred.
  • Experience teaching older adults required.
  • Proven ability to conduct classes through demonstrated poses, clear instruction, and appropriate adjustments.
  • Basic knowledge of human anatomy/physiology to ensure safety and well-being of class participants.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively.

General Summary:

The Yoga/Chair instructor is a contracted employee on the Community Life Services team, serving Senior Adult Residents.  This position is supervised by the Fitness Manager and will design and lead yoga/chair yoga classes.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Design and lead Yoga/Chair Yoga classes for all levels.
  • Set a positive tone and appropriate level of energy for class type.
  • Provide safe, effective, and inspiring instruction in yoga/chair yoga through well-prepared classes.
  • Provide adjustments and modifications in a safe and professional way to accommodate all levels.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and understand instructions in English.
  • Reliability to teach scheduled classes, beginning and ending on time.
  • Keep up to date with the latest industry trends and participate in continuing education programs to enhance expertise and maintain yoga certification.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

  • Sit or stand for extended lengths of time.
  • Crouch, push, pull, reach, and kneel as necessary.
  • Lift up to 50lbs safely.
  • Maintain balance necessary to prevent falling of self and resident.
  • Perform repetitive movements.
  • Projects voice in a classroom setting.
